Ricky studied music & composition at Leeds University, and has since worked as a sound designer, composer and arranger writing for film, television, and theatre. Having spent over 12 years as a chorister in Cathedral choirs, he draws musical inspiration from choral music, and has written commissioned pieces sung by choirs in both England and Canada.
Recent theatrical credits include the scoring of original music & sound design for St John Hankin’s play The Last of The De Mullins (Jermyn St Theatre), and sound supervisor for a concert performance of Facing East the Musical (Lyric Theatre, Shafesbury Avenue). Ricky also sings and arranges for acclaimed London based a cappella group The Buzztones.
In 2018, Ricky composed the music for Meet the Teaspoons, inspired by Lotte Moore’s children’s book The Teaspoon Family. This brand-new play was written by Nick Bromley and played from 8 – 26 August 2018 at the Tabard Theatre, Chiswick.
Ricky has also composed music for television including television magazine and chat show The One Show (BBC), & comedy-drama Loaded (C4)
Ricky’s experience as a creative producer comes from his involvement with London based a cappella group The Buzztones. Having produced 2 of their shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Never Mind The Buzztones, 2013, Buzzology, 2015), and most recently their 2019 show Retro at Vault Festival, Waterloo. Since 2011, he has also worked at the production office for Mamma Mia!, dealing with West End and worldwide productions. In 2019, Ricky attended the Stage One New Producers’ workshop.
